Yippee - North Yorkshire Here I Come!

(pic - Near Rosedale Bank Top are the remains of the kilns that roasted iron ore to drive off water and carbon dioxide gas to concentrate the iron-ore before transportation to the Teesside-Middlesbrough blast furnaces. The remains of the kilns are near the top of the 'Rosedale Chimney', a very steep road up from Rosedale Abbey).

A really G R E A T morning today, Dave & I have decided to getaway from it all for a couple of weeks and are going to my most favourite place, North Yorkshire. Boy, I simply love it there - just talking about it gives me a tingle!! As soon as we enter the county I get this butterfly feeling in the pit of my stomach - am I just too sad???
I've told Dave that I want my ashes scattered across the moors, but hopefully, that won't be for some time yet...........

Dave, Steve (then 2) & I first went to Rosedale Abbey (not too far from Scarborough) for a holiday in 1984 - I was pregnant with Tom at the time - and I just had this glorious feeling being there and we have tried to go back every year since - this will be the second time this year :0)
We were there for my 50th birthday in April and had high tea (cucumber sandwiches & scones - yes, they really have cucumber sandwiches with the crust removed - of course) at Betty's in Northallerton. Has anyone been there? - pretty expensive but a lovely step back in history.

.....We're planning to go on 7th Oct, I'm already counting the days.....
