Hi...I'm finally back...Dave & I have finally completed on the house sell...we're finally here living the dream in lovely Lincolnshire... As many of you will know we left Kent on 25 January expecting to complete that day and move into the bungalow in Lincs. After waiting outside the place, with our removal men for 4 hours we were told by our solicitor that the completion wasn't going to happen that day because the buyer at the beginning of the chain hadn't secured his money in time.....WHAT??
This is the same buyer that had already made the whole chain wait 9 weeks between exchange & completion to get his money in place - to say that Dave & I were stunned is an understatement - we spent the next four days in B+B waiting for news which when it came wasn't encouraging. Then Dave & I returned to Kent & was staying with Doris (his mum) and the furniture was now in storage with the removal men.
Another completion date was set for 11 February which also passed without the job being done. When this second date failed we decided that enough was enough - we'd go back to bungalow, that we'd thought we'd never see again and put the whole sorry episode behind us, re-market the place to find another buyer and chain, so we moved all the furniture back in and went around in a bit of a dream.....
We had another call from our solicitor saying that another date was suggested for the 4 March and were we prepared to 'go with it'. We said yes again (better the devil you know, I suppose!!) hoping like mad that it would happen this time, surely it couldn't fail a third time to the same set of buyers....
And whew! it happened (six weeks after the original completion date) - we drove up the next day and the furniture arrived from Kent the following day -
And now we've been here 10 days already - still pinching ourselves to prove that it's real & it is -
