...Saw It - Liked It - Bought It...

www.bootblack.co.uk

...I've never liked sunflowers myself...:(

We've been to Kirby on Bain this afternoon to an open garden...it's also the nearest refuse tip for us - it's so pretty at the tip (yes really!) ... and the village has a lovely community feel about it - I'd quite like to live there actually -- maybe I'd better start looking at what property is available...

~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyway, we spent a couple of hours there and managed to 'dodge' the rainy weather (again!) to admire the gardens and trees. Dave had a 'must have' cuppa and piece of homemade chocolate cake - I had Ribena and a delicious eclair. We also bought our first Christmas present for Doris (Dave's mum)...it's been years since I shopped so early but she gets more and more difficult to buy for
...so it was definitely - saw it...liked it...bought it...
...A Great Way To Spend A Saturday Night...
www.bootblack.co.uk
Just a quickie as I'm off to watch Skrek III on Sky in a minute - I really like Shrek - Dave's gone fishing for the evening so I can turn the volume up on the surround system as loud as I like (Dave always moans!), munch popcorn and sip Pimms
...It's Hard Work Getting Old...
www.bootblack.co.uk
Busy morning, this morning -- well busy for me -- got up earlier than usual (left Dave in bed with a cup of coffee & the blinds down!). I had answered my emails & parcelled my eBay things before 9.30am & then got dressed as I had an appointment with 'The Stunner' (nurse practioner) ... another weigh-in as I'm losing weight at the moment and I have now lost another 4lbs... WOW! I'm just wasting away
...asif...
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've got another appointment with her next week for a blood test as I'm now getting these god-awful hot flushes all the time - there only last for a minute or so at a time but I'm having them nearly every hour including during the night - on average 21 in 24 hours & they're starting to get me done a bit....so there's another round of tests coming up...

...Picnic Weather...

www.bootblack.co.uk

It's a lovely day this morning - it's amazing what you see when you look out of the window (I saw sunshine ;0) - so we've decided to have another picnic lunch. I've just packed the wicker basket up with a couple of ham salad rolls, yogurts, apple, banana, crisps and canned drinks - can't be done with a flask - that's for old people!!
Now I'm just waiting for Dave (as normal!) to finish something that can't be left and we'll be off.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've told him that he can choose where to go this time - bad idea! - he wants to go and look around a fishing lake that someone's told him about (Yawn!) - but I'm hoping that there'll be some nice views to look at least....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
...and if all else fails I can always oggle him...

...Anyone Seen Bugs Bunny...?

www.bootblack.co.uk

We just had our first batch of carrots from the garden - as you can see, they were pretty small - but lovely and sweet. As they were so diddy I just cut the tops off, gave them a good wash and cooked them as they were with a few peas.
~~~~~~~~~
This wasn't a problem for me & I happily munched away - tails and all - Dave however sat at the dining table and cut every tail off every carrot until they were 'tail-less' - by the time he'd finished messing around his meal was almost cold!!
...What's Happening To Our Beattie...???
www.bootblack.co.uk
-- Beattie sat in this spot looking into a small hole for more than two hours this afternoon,
but nothing emerged from it (thank goodness) --
############
Beattie (our cat) is thirteen years old and for the last twelve and a half of them she's been a cat after my own heart - eating & sleeping, that's it - she's never been a hunter or explorer and has always preferred the slow pace of life. She's always gone out every night (regardless of the weather) but has slept on one of the beds all day only moving when it was time to eat.
########
But there's definitely been a change in her since we moved to the countryside - she is so much more active - constantly in and out of the place all day and has taken to bringing in her mouse catches...EEK! luckily (for me!) they've been dead so far... for us to admire. She never did anything like that before.
############
She's also taken a great interest in the bird life around here and is on the prowl trying to catch them out - but they've been too quick for her - so far!
Yesterday, I caught her hanging onto the fence and peering - kill~joy style - over into the adjoining field watching something or other and her head was bobbing this way and that - she certainly was a comical sight and I got a good laugh out of her
...Is It Sunny Yet...???
www.bootblack.co.uk
## Nice Picture Of Dave, Then##
--------------
When I got up this morning I looked out of the window and saw that it was nice & sunny and decided there and then to pack a picnic lunch for us both and go into Louth for the day...who needs a weather station or weatherman? As I always say 'If you want to know what the weather's doing'
~~~~~~~~~

...JUST LOOK OUT OF THE BLOODY WINDOW...
~~~~~~~~~
We had a great day out looking around Louth - there's some really nice shops there -- some are pretty expensive, though -- and then we went into the countryside and found a nice spot to unpack our wicker basket and munch our treats! The only problem was that it started to drizzle just as we parked up, so we had to eat it in the car.
...I never said I could look into the future as far as the weather is concerned, did I...?
...How Can You Sleep Through That...??
www.bootblack.co.uk
BOY! I had an awful night last night - just couldn't get to sleep - Dave of course was in the land of nod as soon as his head hit the pillow as is normal for him & to be fair it's normally like that for me as well...but not last night...
~~~~~~~~~~~~

And then -- when I finally did get to sleep -- well after 2am. I had a rude awakening with an alarm going off in the lounge..Dave of course never heard a thing and continued snoring while I got out of bed to investigate!! I wasn't pleased to find that it was HIS Energy Monitor (you know the thing that tells you how much electricity you're using) flashing it's blue light and making a continuous buzzing noise - I knocked over the table lamp as I struggled to disconnect it from the mains - and then after I'd got back into bed and was just about to go back to sleep again - unbelievably another alarm went off - this time it was Dave's weather station (the batteries were low!)

~~~~~~~~~~~~
....can you believe that Dave slept through the whole episode?
I can only say that as I got back into bed AGAIN I made sure that he DIDN'T stay asleep for long....
...Fancy A McVitie, Anyone...?
www.bootblack.co.uk
It's another rainy cold day in Lincolnshire :0( Dave's weather station says 14C outside - hardly summer weather is it?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Our field of 'McVitie' biscuits was harvested a couple of days ago. As you can see from the photo the combine and tractor came pretty close to the bungalow - right up to the fence in fact. It took them a couple of hours or more to clear both of the fields to the side and rear of us. I was amazed at the amount of 'dust' that they kicked up - everything in the garden was covered in a layer of it - the rain has now cleared it away, though.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
We heard on the local news that night that a tractor had shed it's load of several tons of wheat on the A16 that afternoon, closing the road -
~~~~~~~~~~~~

...I wonder if it was from our McVitie field...?

...I Saw The Treeman...

www.bootblack.co.uk

bit different - wouldn't you say??

The rain stopped yesterday just as quick as it had started around mid-day. So Dave & I had an early lunch and decided to go to the garage sale in Great Steeping in the afternoon and I'm pleased we did. It's a pretty village (lots of different style properties & the residents were so friendly) & we picked up a few 'bargains' - the best one for me was a sex fantasy doodle book - as Dave said 'Anyone can draw a willy' and I'll be doing just that later :0)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And the thing that REALLY made my day was that we met The Treeman there - WOW! he's still as gorgeous as I remember - pity he was with his wife and child - now that's just too much baggage, don't you think??
...Guess What? - It's Raining Again...
www.bootblack.co.uk
Well, it's another wet & miserable start to the day here in Lincs. I heard the rain start lashing against the bedroom window just as it was getting light and lay there thinking 'Boy it rains a lot up here'.
We've been here since the beginning of March and I reckon we've not had more than a couple of dry weeks in one go since then.
...........................
We were planning to go to Great Steeping (a few villages away from us) as they are having a village garage/garden sale today but the weather has put us off and no doubt it'll be the same for a lot of people - so I'm in my favourite place (the computer!) and Dave's continuing with the dining room - he's putting up the posh wallpaper in a minute :0)
...........................
...maybe it'll brighten up later - I keep my fingers crossed...
...We Need New Bodies...
www.bootblack.co.uk
Dave & I went to our local boot again this morning - it's turned into a weekly event for us - the weather was dry but pretty overcast and there were dozen & dozen of boots and loads of cars in the car park - easily the biggest one yet!
~~~~~~~~~~~

Dave spent a whole pound on drill bits and I spent about a fiver on odds and sods (mostly for eBay) - we managed around half of the stalls before my back & Dave's knee started to play us up & we decided to call it a day...

~~~~~~~~~~~
OMG! we need new bodies or at least spare body parts
...All Is Well In The Humphrey World...
www.bootblack.co.uk
the 'McVitie' field (outside our bedroom)
I was lazing in bed this morning with a hot cup of coffee that hubby had brought in and daydreaming out of the window across the 'McVitie' field and thinking that all was well with our little world :0)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dave was busying himself getting ready to go fishing for the day - he was like a kid, so excited - I just can't see it myself, he sits all day on a uncomfortable chair staring and waiting for any movement on the water. Then if he's lucky (he calls it skill, of course) to actually catch one of the slippery blighters - after cooing over it and taking a billion photos, he puts it back -
....he never bring them home so we don't even get a decent meal out of it...

...Wow I'm Two Sizes Smaller...!!

www.bootblack.co.uk
Yee Haa!

I've lost 22lbs since Christmas - that's an amazing 1 stone 8 lbs - WOW! I have a glucose intolerance which makes it hard for me to loss weight very easily - not that losing weight is ever easy - is it??

~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've tried most diets including the silly ones, I've joined Weight Watchers more times than I care to remember, Slimming World & even my local doctors ran a 'healthy eating' class -- none of them really worked for me in the long term -- so when I hit my forties I decided - 'sod it, this is the way I am - take it or leave it' - and continued to buy bigger and bigger sizes and ignored my expanding waistline and bust-line :0)
~~~~~~~~~~~~

But for the past few years I been borderline diabetic and I suffer terribly with vertigo/dizziness when I over indulge in sweet things so I decided to go to my GP and ask about the 'diet pill' - she agreed for me to try it and it's working, it's really working ...it rejects some of the fat after you've eaten - so I don't eat fatty foods very often anymore and of course that's why it works...

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyway the outcome so far is that I've dropped two dress sizes (YIPPEE!!) and had a great day out last week buying clothes from 'normal' shops - I even bought a gorgeous silk skirt from Phase Eight (never dared to even go in before) - I even need new knickers because they now fall off my hips -
....as Dave said 'Bring it on' -- or off, as in my case...
...We're Back...
... No-one is above suspicion... hehe!
-- WE ARE BACK --
We've been to Kent for a few days and returned late last night - to see friends & relations & Dave had an appointment at the hospital with the consultant about his back (prolapsed disc).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I've spent the whole day answering more than 180 emails, parcelling up packages and taking them to the post office....we were only away for 5 days...makes me wonder if it's all worth it...

...A Lovely Day Out...

...Dave would love one of these...

We had a great day out yesterday at the Revesby Country Show - it's just over a mile from us - the local papers have been full of it for weeks and the neighbours all said what a good show it was every year. So Dave & I decided to spend the £15 to get in (yes, we thought it was pretty dear too!) and went to see what it was all about and everyone was right - it was a fabby day :0)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My only slight disappointment was that there wasn't any livestock on display - you know sheep, hens and cows (that sort of thing) - but if you're into horses and dogs then it would have been your idea of heaven -- they were everywhere -- I can appreciate how magnificent & cute in some cases horses are, but they just don't do it for me!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

But there were loads of traditional stalls and crafts (which I love), flowers & produce tents, vintage vehicles including a yellow Stag - so Dave was very happy - fairground rides (adults & children) and trader stands. AND we did finally see and buy a bird table for the top of the felled conifer - so we returned back around six quite exhausted but happy that we decided to go...and the weather stayed dry...

....Am I Just Getting Old...?

www.bootblack.co.uk

...slap my wrists I completely forgot to blog yesterday...

I've just got back from the doctors after seeing 'The Stunner' (nurse practitioner) again - more blood test to decide if I'm a diabetic or not...I've been borderline for years and it looks as if the tests have still proved inconclusive (surprise, surprise)...so they're going to keep an eye on it - as norm -

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've also been getting backache -- more than normal -- and shooting pains in my right side and tingling between my shoulders. She seems to think it might be the start of sciatica (that's great news, isn't it?) so I've got to have physio to see if that will help - oh! & of course a pile of pain killers.
