...Another Christmas - Can't Be...

Well! It's Almost Here Again - isn't it?

Another Christmas, another excuse to eat too much, drink too much and spread happiness around by giving love & gifts to each other.

I moan about how quickly it appears every year but in truth I love it - I love the build-up to it and the family getting together on Christmas Day and the party games and jokes that we always play on each other.

...It's a very special time (whether or not you believe in God) and if you're lucky enough like I am it's the best time of the year for families ...

-- I'll leave you with a little joke --

What will happen to you at Christmas ?

...Market Day...

www.bootblack.co.uk

(just a few of The Craft Shed items)
------
Dave joined the Woodhall Spa Country Market co-operative last week to enable him to sell his wooden jewellery & crafts at their fortnightly market and it was the first one this morning - he sold two items - not an enormous amount granted and we'll not be able to retire just yet but hopefully it'll build up from here and he'll sell a few items each time he displays.
------
The ladies that run it were all very helpful and made us feel welcome - which is nice - we're looking into other outlets for him to be able to display and sell
...so, if you've got any ideas - let us know...

....Yeah! As If That's Gonna Happen...

www.bootblack.co.uk

Another weigh-in with 'The Stunner' (nurse practitioner) this morning - I've stayed the same weight this time - it's a bit disappointing I must admit as I'm still following McPaul & taking a brisk walk almost every day - but I'm determined not to let it deter me and I'm going to keep on the right track - hopefully it's just a blip and the next time I'm weighed I'd have lost pounds :0)

------

Only problem is I've got Christmas & New Year in-between - EEK! - and we're away for the whole fortnight staying with Doris (Dave's mum) - so it's definately going to be a challenge to resist all the goodies.

------

Now I just need to remember to only eat when I'm hungry & stop when I'm full I'll be fine and still loss weight

...Nice Little Bonus...

www.bootblack.co.uk

I've been to work AGAIN today - another 6 hours under my belt :0) I spent most of the morning writing & addressing the companies Christmas cards...I get all the exciting jobs, don't I...?

------

The boss also gave me a Christmas card on leaving and when I opened it at home there was a nice little bonus inside - I was really surprised as I've only been there five minutes. Rest assured that I'll be taking it with me tomorrow when ME & HE go shopping in Grimsby for the final Chrimbo pressies

...Man-Flu...

www.bootblack.co.uk

Dave has 'Man-Flu' and is driving me up the wall with his constant sighing - what is it with men and not feeling well?
Do they all make such a song & dance about it?? Or is it just the special ones, the I'm so ill ones & the you don't understand how bad I feel ones?
-------
If you're a female then you'll know exactly what I'm talking about -
I tell you if they had to give birth then they'd really know what 'not feeling well' was like

...There's Always Next Year...

www.bootblack.co.uk

The Craft Shed
...this was our display table...

Dave & I went to our very first Craft Fayre yesterday as sellers and what a complete waste of time & money it turned out to be ;0(

The table cost £15 (plus materials for the crafts, of course!) & we took a grand total of £3.97 -- sums just don't add up, do they? --
-----------
It was the Christmas Cracker day in Spilsby - it's run by the Spilsby Lions and is a huge success every year(apparently) - but NOT this year - typical it rained stair-rods the whole time and was SO windy & blustery that people just didn't leave their warm cosy homes and come out into the street.
-----------
All that we got out of the day a monetary lost, good soaking and dented pride
still there's always next year, isn't there?

...Dear Lord...

www.bootblack.co.uk

A few days before Christmas, two young brothers were spending the night at their grandparent's house.

When it was time to go to bed, and anxious to do the right thing, they both knelt down to say their prayers.

..................

Suddenly, the younger one began to do so in a very loud voice."Dear Lord, please ask Santa Claus to bring me a play-station, a mountain-bike and a telescope."

His older brother leaned over and nudged his brother and said, "Why are you shouting your prayers? God isn't deaf."

...I Think I Like Walking...

www.bootblack.co.uk

Just got back from my daily 'power walk' - I still can't believe that after eight weeks I'm doing it pretty much EVERY day - I vary my route and walk either a bit further or a bit faster every few days or so and I must admit to rather enjoying it
...OH MY GOD! did I really just say that...

...............
It's a fresh (4C) dry afternoon today so I wrapped up and Dave made me put a woolly hat on (most fetching - NOT!) - I'm not a hat person at all - and off I went on my merry way.
I only passed four cars, an old man walking his dog, who said 'Hello' & a woman & young girl.
That's one of the reasons that I like it here so much - there's very little traffic & the people that you do meet are always so polite and welcoming.

...That Cat's A Bit Cheeky...

www.bootblack.co.uk

Beattie (cat) will miss Dave when he's gone, I can tell you - she consistently follows him all around the place and waits by the door when he goes into the garage

-- it's so nice to be loved isn't it? --

--------

Dave was sitting - well perched really - on the window sill yesterday with his legs crossed and she promptly walked across the back of the settee and jumped onto his legs and started to snuggle down. I was gob-smacked but she paid no attention to me (as is usual) and put her head under her paw and settled down to snooze

-------------

Dave just left her there until his leg went numb and then pushed her off - she looked most disgusted and went and sat on the TV table in the sunshine.

--------
It's a great life being a cat, isn't it?

...Where's The Cheerios...???

www.bootblack.co.uk

Dave has Cheerios (breakfast cereal) and WARM milk every day - yep! every single day - he rarely misses them and when he does...like yesterday...boy is he moody and grumpy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
--the story goes--
he had a late lay-in and I took him in coffee and three pieces of marmalade toast (see I can be nice!) - which he ate and then complained that he didn't now have room for his Cheerios - I told him 'To get over it' and get his bum out of bed as we were on a mission to find the perfect Christmas Tree (see yesterdays blog) - which he did and out we went - but for the rest of the day & I mean the WHOLE day he moaned & groaned about missing his Cheerio breakfast and how toast just hadn't filled the same hole
...What A Happy Time Christmas Is...
www.bootblack.co.uk
Dave & I have been on a mission today to find the perfect Christmas Tree - it's something that we always do on the first Saturday in December - this year was extra difficult as we had no idea where to go because we only moved to Lincolnshire in March, so we obviously didn't have any local knowledge where the best ones are.
........
But I'm pleased to report that after only three villages & several kerbside stops we finally found a really nice one - four hours after we left home - and have it waiting patiently in the kitchen to be erected.
..................
only problem is that Dave can't find the stand for it and is banging around in the garage, summer house and shed looking for it...muttering and cursing as he goes...
...Have You Farted Again...?
www.bootblack.co.uk
...for all the Farters out there...
In passing gas remember to be kind to animals and to respect those who have to live with you. For it may be funny to laugh at fart jokes, but having to sit through a cloud of noxious fumes released by a friend, family member, spouse, or co-worker is no bed of roses.
...Boy, He's A Noisy Lover...
www.bootblack.co.uk
Beattie (our cat) has a 'special friend' who has taken to visiting her every night...under our bedroom window... and boy! he's a noisy lover, I can tell you.
-----------
Last night he was making such a row - obviously trying to impress her - but just annoying the hell out of me (Dave was still asleep - nothing much wakes him!) that I was on the verge of getting up and finding a very large bucket of water
-----------
...No Wonder I'm Smiling...
www.bootblack.co.uk
...No Wonder I'm Smiling...
Just got back from 'The Stunner' (nurse practitioner) for my fortnightly weigh-in and YIPPEE DO DA I've lost another 1.5kg - that's 3.3lbs to us oldies - making a grand total of 10kg -- an amazing 22lbs since July this year --
..........
I've not been this slim for years and I've missed it - I hadn't realised how much until now -
It's strange how you just carry on putting up with the extra weight and convincing yourself and others that you're happy with your size - and believing it - that is until you finally find an eating plan that actually works!
