..Look, There's A Rainbow...

We've had rain again :(

BUT it was sunny as it poured & now we have a vivid rainbow

...Things I Love...

I Love:-

My Boys
...miss them like hell, I can tell you!- but they're all grown-up now, happy where they are and making their own way in the big wide world & I''m As Proud As Punch...

Black Scottie Dogs
...NOT West Highland Terriers but proper Scottie Dogs (the ones with the long faces & beards) - I've been on at Dave to get one for ages but he won't budge - he's standard answer is 'We're not having one because they are only shit machines'... is that a valid argument?

Gypsy Tart
...Yummy Yum Yum -- we use to have this for school dinners & I always went for seconds & sometimes thirds if I got away with it...

North Yorkshire Moors
...I REALLY love it there - I love the openness of the moors & how rugged they are. I've told everyone that's where I want to die - hopefully it won't be anytime soon, though... :0)

...Things I Hate...

I hate:

selling at boot/craft fayres
...you spend much too much time standing around waiting for a sell...

marmite
..yuk yuk yuk - it's true what they say. 'You either love it or hate it.'

all things rodent - mice especially -
...I blame this partly on my mum - I can still visualise (when I was a kid) her screaming at dad at the top of her voice. 'Kill it, kill it' whenever she saw one & dad saying
'It's more afraid of you than you are of it.'
-- Yeah Right!...

avocado - oh! and asparagus
...horrible slimy things - puke...

shoot 'em up films...
...yawn! - just can't see the point...

tattoos
...DON'T get one I implore you - they AREN'T pretty, they DON'T look cool AND they last FOREVER...

I Could Go On And On - But I'll Stop Hating Now :D

...Will I Ever Be A Rice Pudding...?

"I've now been sitting on top of Jan & Dave's cooker hob for the best part of the week along with an empty pudding dish & a half packet of caster sugar and it's just NOT fair.

I was promised that I'd be made into a creamy rice pudding & they lied to me - just downright lied - I'm beginning to think they have no intention of keeping their promise at all.

_____________________

When I first heard Janet say last week 'We've got so much milk we'd better make a rice pud to use some of it up'. I couldn't believe my ears & I waited with baited breath until the cupboard door opened & a hand stretched in to the very back of it - where I've been pushed & pushed over the months - I was ecstatic I can tell you....At last, at last I'll be able to escape from the dark recess & finally be released from my plastic wrapper & sellotape fastenings...I was finally going to be used - I was to become the creamiest rice pudding that you'd ever tasted - but now I've just been sitting here waiting - waiting - waiting as nothing has happened absolutely nothing at all.

Everyday I've heard Janet or Dave saying how they forgot to transform me up with the sugar & milk again and tomorrow they really will use me ...it's laughable isn't it...?

I ask you - just how hard can it be? Just throw me in the dish with a couple of spoons of sugar & pint of milk (which apparently they have loads of!) and push me into that lovely warm place called an oven".

...Just Show Me My Bed...

I really dislike getting into an unmade bed as I hate creased sheets. So every morning I straighten them out, tuck in the corners and make the bed up. Dave on the other hand doesn't share my passion & tuts at my 'habit'.
_______________

But there's something so sexy about having a shower and then sliding between recently laundered sheets - that lovely clean feeling is so intoxicating, don't you agree??

...Why Are You Taking So Long...?

outside temp: 19c
cloudy & humid

Yesterday I really loved my hubby but today I'm SO DAMN impatient with him - are I fickle or is it just that on a day to day basis your feelings change?

__________

Can your feelings really change from one day to the next? Can you look at someone who you've lived with for more than 30 years & think 'Boy, you really pee me off today!' I've got to say the answer is yes...At Least For Me...

...Get Out Of My House, You Squatter...?

outside temp: 22c
hot & humid but dull

We have L O A D S of flies around this year & they are SO damn bold! I even had one land right on the end of my nose - you know, just like in the cartoons - they are an absolute pest....literally...
______________
-- I'VE JUST ABOUT HAD ENOUGH -- so I got on eBay and bought a fly swatter and said to Dave
'I've just bought a fly squatter'.
He said 'Don't you mean swatter? A squatter is someone who lives in a house uninvited'
With a very straight face I replied 'Well, I didn't invite the fly to stay, did you?'

...Look At The Head On That...!

outside temp: 22c
very humid & thundery

....I really like poppies - I love the way they show a bed of red in the fields -there's loads on the journey to work- and the way they mingle on the verges with the weeds. It just brightens up my day when I see them.... :D
______
We've tried for years to grow them (well Dave has, I don't get my hands dirty!) in the garden & never had any success - but this year we've had the most gorgeous large pink ones - I was so excited when they showed their floppy heads - can you tell??
Pat (my aunt-in-waiting) gave Dave a bag of mixed seeds to plant up and boy oh boy we have poppies, poppies & poppies....mostly these papery pink ones but also a few small red ones too....

- just can't wait until next year - hopefully they'll be lots more - I'll Probably Moan Then About Having Too Many.

...How Many Messages...?

outside temp:19c
sunny & dry

I had a dentist appoinment so I didn't start work this morning until nearly midday & when I arrived in the office the answer machine was flashing a message which read 'memory full, delete messages' - that couldn't be right surely - I've only been away a couple of hours!
______________________________________
So I started ploughing through them and yes there had been 23 messages between 9am - 11am - unbelievable....looking through the list, someone had phoned every 5.2 minutes - needless to say I spend the rest of the day playing 'catch up' as well as answering the phone all afternoon - I tell you -

...Why Do Weathermen Get It Wrong...?

outside temp: 20c
raining!

It's raining - the weather forecast said last night that it'll be sunny & dry today and surprise, surprise they got it wrong again & it's pouring - only just got the washing in time too :(

...so why is that...?? you would have thought that with all the equipment at their disposal they'd get it right once in a while??

-- so here's a little joke for you --

...B E A T T I E, Drop It...!!

outside temp: 21c
sunny but windy

While Dave & I were sitting in the lounge today having a coffee after work he saw a funny mark on the inside of the glass on the log burner & went to investigate.
When he opened the door a small bird - a sparrow I think - flew straight out & Beattie (the cat) did a leaping jump from a standstill position & caught the damn thing between her teeth....got to admire her agility really as she is 15 years old... and while we are both there yelling 'Drop it, drop it' - blow me if another one didn't fly into the room.
...........................................
So picture the scene, if you can, the cat has a bird clamped in her jaw with Dave trying to prise it out, shouting at the same time & I'm opening windows whilst trying to shoo the second one out of the room
...I tell you Tom & Jerry have got nothing on us...

...Do You Believe In Fairies...?

outside temp: 18c
dull & breezy

I'm afraid to say I kindda do - I love the idea of fairies living at the bottom of the garden & fluttering about at dusk and dawn - it has a sort of comforting feeling about it, don't you think? Having them watching over us keeping an eye on things!
----------------------
The reason why I'm asking is because Dave's recently made a 'fairy ring' at the base of a large conifer tree in our side garden - he says he's only done it to keep me happy but I think he secretly believes in them too :D

...Anyone Got A Tin Bath...??

outside temp: 15c
mega windy

Dave's looking for an old tin bath - anyone got one? - not to bathe in obviously - mind you it's another great party game idea :D

.........................................................
He's looking to build a solar-powered water feature in the garden & has been looking for ages to buy one - he's already sourced the solar panel & we have an old fashioned working hand pump so he only needs the tub to get it up and running.
Dave has a 'thing' about moving water in the garden - when we moved here in 2008 we didn't intend to stay so it wasn't on the refurbishment plan, but 28 months later we're still here & looks as if we'll stay for quite a while - so now it's on his plan.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So if you hear of one going - let me know - as it'll keep him happy - before he moves on to the next project :)
...Can Anyone Do Si Do...? Or Is It Dosey Doe...?
outside temp: 16c
raining - againing :(
When we were at the barbecue last night - had a great time, by the way, despite the rain - the subject of barn dancing came up. Dave & I haven't been to a real barn dance in a real live barn for years. When the boys were little & at primary school we use to go to them regularly (it was one of their fund-raisers) but since they've grown up - most inconvenient, you know - we haven't attended one.
...........................................................
It brought back fond memories of being spun round & round by a 'certain' someone who thought it was great fun to spin you until you were dizzy, grabbing any piece of flesh and holding on tight until it hurt! Pushing to the left when everyone else was going right & normally ending the session by standing on my toes --
...Oh Yea! - Fond Memories - Fond Memories Indeed...
...I Need A Burger - With Onions? - Yes, Please...
Outside Temp: 19c
starting to rain
Dave & I are going the works 'summer' barbeque in a minute & true to form it's just started raining - been sunny all day & now it's time to get going - the heavens have opened! Just as well we are having it in the garage - yes really - not a normal size one to be fair it's pretty massive - you can get a double decker on ramps in there.....
Hopefully the decker will be in the yard outside - mind you there's nothing to stop us all seating on it eating burgers, chicken etc
...after all, it does hold 75 passengers...
...I Hate Sunflowers...
outside temp: 17c
sunny-ish but windy
~I Hate Sunflowers~
they're so tall & lanky with flouncy heads that always hang down because they are too heavy for their spindley stems. Dave's planted a huge bunch in the side garden this year - I told him I hate them - but he thought that they'd look nice leaning against the fence and I'd change my mind once I saw them in bloom.
...needless to say it hasn't changed my mind one little bit... :(
...Ready Steady Throw...
outside temp: 24c
sunny sunshine
Dave & I recently celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary with a party for family & friends. It started quite sedately but soon dissolved into mayhem - once the party games commenced - & the booze kicked in :D
We had adult pass the parcel, scrunch the paper game, a quiz & of course the Walnut Game....for those who have never played the Walnut Game - you really don't know what you're missing... You play with two players at a time - both have a standard half dozen eggbox + 6 walnuts and you simply throw the walnuts into the eggbox - first one wins - sounds a bit boring doesn't it? But I challenge you to try it and not fall about laughing & cheering on your favourite player!!!
...Absolutely, the best fun you'll ever have with half a dozen walnuts - I Promise...
...Oh! I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside...
outside temp 24.5c
warm & sunny
...........
Dave 'whisked' me off to sunny Skegness (Lincs) yesterday for the day tempting me with fish & chips followed by a knickerbocker glory. I must admit that when he mentioned it I turned my nose up and tried to get out of it :D But he held fast & wouldn't take no for an answer - so off we went.
..........................................
I wanted to eat our lunch on a park bench or by the sea - like the other tourists - but Dave wanted a 'proper' sit down & a pot of tea so we found a fish restaurant and ate there. Afterwards we had a wander about & watched the annual carnival (been years since we last waited with the crowds to see one!).
..........................................
- I hate to admit it but it was really nice there, much better than I thought & having lovely sunny weather helped & being with the one I love of course -
...It's Getting Cold In Here...?
outside temp: 18c
sunny but breezy
It'll soon be time to light the logburner again - the temperature dropped to 13c last night & my feet were blooming cold - so it won't be long before Dave's up & down to tender to it's every need -- first it'll be the kindling & paper scunching then a smallish log will go on the blaze then another & another -- I Tell You........
...He's up & down more times than an actresses knickers...
...WOW! What A View...
outside temp: 18c
bright-ish & still
This is the scene from our bedroom window at the moment - isn't it lovely? - it's the field behind our place - the farmer grew barley this year and harvested it last week - now the bales are standing around in small groups 'gossiping' together - if you stand in the rear garden, close your eyes tightly & listen carefully
...you can hear them whispering their secrets to each other
...you can, really you can...
...I Love Cowboy Joe...
outside temp: 20c
sunny but windy
I LoVe my 'Cowboy Joe' - Dave made him for me for my birthday earlier this year -- he stands dark & moody in the side garden leaning against the vine trellis smoking -- as cowboys do - not that I agree with the smoking I must say but you can't have a dirty cowboy without a cigar in his mouth
....Now Can You...??
...Back At Work...
outside temp: 18c
sunny but bit chilly
I went back at work today - woke up again with a headache which wasn't too bad to be honest but I also have this sick feeling in my stomach all the time - not gonna be sick just feel 'icky! but I was a super-hero and went back - the bosses were really happy to see me - I bet it was only because they wouldn't have to answer the phone today :D
The day passed by really quickly as I was on 'catch up' for most of it -- home now & feeling knackered and achy to be honest -- Dave's been looking after me tho' making me a coffee as soon as we walked in the door & asking if I'm OK - I told him I'll survive & blew on his face so as we can share any bugs
...now that really is love, isn't it? - sharing your bugs...
...Great - It's Raining...
outside temp: 17c
rain-rain-rain
I didn't go into work again today - felt pretty good when I went to bed last night but work up in the early hours with another raging head & feeling sick!
The rain lashing against the window woke me up several times & disturbed my beauty sleep which also didn't help the headache situation :(
So, had a very long lie-in and I am up & about now (2pm) - just about to have a shower so hopefully that'll make me feel better - headache has just about subsided again but still have a sick feeling -- what's going on --??
......Maybe I'm Just Allegic To Work......
...I've Got A Headache...
outside temp: 19c - breezy but dry
...came home from work early today as I had a raging headache - first one for months...
Thankfully, I feel much better now so thought I'd blog about it - sad isn't it?
Woke up this morning with a thumper but thought if I ignore it'd go away unfortunately I was wrong & it just got more & more intense so had to phone Dave around 11 o'clock to pick me up & have spent the rest of the afternoon in a bed in a darkened room after dosing myself with Maxalt (works wonders, I tell you)
Anyway, up and about now - had cheese & crackers with a glass of juice for tea (not concentrated muck - freshly squeezed - I hate the cheap stuff!) read the local paper & now on here - gonna eBay in a mo' too
....my! I do feel better, don't I...?
