We spent the day at the hospital today as 'safety conscience' Dave did a R E A L L Y silly thing and cut his ligament flexa on his left index finger with a chisel!!

He was suppose to have an operation under general anesthesia to repair it but didn't end up having it done as the hospital had a massive trauma incident this afternoon and as his op isn't life-threatening - he's staying overnight and having it done first thing in the morning --  hopefully  --

but, they have put him in the private wing of the hospital with his own en-suite, television, direct-dial phone and private seating area in the courtyard...OooH!...

...AND the best thing about the whole 'staying over' business is the fact that I can have the W H O L E  bed to myself tonight...  :D

I knew I'd spoken too soon yesterday about the weather as this morning (& most of the night!) it's absolutely peeing down & a bit chilly, but at least the wind has died down :(

- North Yorkshire - for a few days...can't wait...I L O V E it there

- as soon as I see that 'you are entering North Yorkshire' sign I get butterflies in my tummy - yes, really.  I've been like that ever since the very first time we stayed there on holiday in 1984 - there's just something about the moors & the nothingness of it all

...it's a lovely sunny day today be it a bit chilly - I've just spoken to my dad, who has Alzheimer's, who sounded REALLY good and ME & HE are going to my favourite place - North Yorkshire - for a little holiday soon...

So it's a good day - a very good day - indeed

And to set it in action we opened our very first bottle (Alfred Rothschild, if you're interested) yesterday - Sunday, of course - with our roast chicken dinner in the evening and then retired to the seating area (commonly known as the lounge) and promptly finished it off -- and very nice it was too --

We have new blinds in the dining room and they're just a teeny weeny bit

I should have taken note that the colour was Burnt Orange when I ordered them but I didn't, obviously and when I approached the room this morning there was a glow and the whole room and the kitchen had this orange haze about them.

...I'm Just A Little Bit Mental...

...I feel like I'm ever so mental today 'cos it's just been SoO busy at work & I've been flitting from one 'must do' job to the next and it's done my head in...

I should have know it was gonna be a busy day (understatement of the week!) because the signs were there as I walked in the door this morning and was confronted with driver queries and the phone ringing off the hook -- let alone the paperwork that goes with each call!

I've been shuffling bits of paper around, trying to allocate the 'right' driver to the 'right' job (it's all about office politics, you know!) & chasing up messages and emails.

...The Flowers Don't Sniff...

While we were at the exciting Firewood Fayre yesterday the local church opposite had their flower festival on as well. So we wandered over and took a look around

and wow-zee

the arrangements were spectacular - all sorts of styles, themes and colour - but none of the flowers that I sniffed -- AND I SNIFFED LOTS -- had any sniff at all

....which was very disappointing I must say...

but I did appreciate the skill of local flower club that had made such stunning displays

Well! we've been to the Firewood Fayre this morning and YEP I was right (again)

-- it was a load of 'old boys' and some younger ones to be fair --

all standing around in green wellies, baggy sweaters and mucky jeans waving bits of red card above their heads whilst bidding on piles & piles & piles of kindling, logs and firewood (there was a BIG hint in the title - I know)
